Rites Today for
Seaman Kirk,
Killed in Pacific

The funeral of Seaman Second
Class Frederick F. Kirk, killed in
action Dec. 13, 1944, at Mindoro
Straits, will be this morning at
11 o'clock . at the Courtland V.
Andrew funeral home. Rev. Arthur
Blaze will officiate at the services.
Seaman Kirk, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Bennie Kirk of 16 Tower
avenue, was killed during fighting
for Japanese fortified Pacific
islands. His father is a World
war I veteran.
He was born in Frankfort, NY,
May 14, 1927. When he was three
years old, he came to Schenectady
and attended Lincoln school, Central
Park junior high school, and
Vocational high school. He was
employed at the bindery room of
Maqua Co. for six months before
entering the navy May 15, 1944.
After his boot training, he was
aboard the USS Nashville,
Besides his parents, Seaman
Kirk is survived by a sister, Mrs.
Eugene Swan and two half-brothers,
Robert and Bennie Jr. All
are residents of Schenectady.
The body of Seaman Kirk was
shipped to Schenectady Thursday
escorted by Michael Gerent of the
U.S. Military Escort Detachment,
according to Colonel F. O. Harding,
commanding officer of the
Schenectady General Distribution
Depot.
Burial will be In Evergreen
Memorial cemetery.
