Garland, UT – Darla Dean Hess, 74, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 at her home. She was born October 26, 1934 in Plymouth, Utah to Frank and Agnes Rudd Archibald. She married DeLoy J. Hess. He passed away March 9, 1987.

Darla was a volunteer at the Bear River Valley Hospital. She retired from the Defense Logistics Agency (Airforce) at Thiokol. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and reading. But most of all she loved and enjoyed her grandkids.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving two missions, one in Independence, MO and the other in Hawaii Honolulu.
Surviving are her children: Teresa Ann Sackett, Kevin Merle Hess, Bruce Wayne (Kaye) Hess, Corwin L. Hess and Julie Hess (Grady) Mathis; 21 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; one brother, Merlin (JoAnn) Archibald; two sisters, Viola Fox and Mona Brown.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one great-granddaughter, Drevin Lynn Hess.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009 11:00 a.m. at Garland 4th Ward Church, 175 South Main, Garland with Bishop Brent O. Deakin officiating. Family and friends may call Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Plymouth Cemetery.
