US Congressman. He moved to New York City, in 1843 and became successful in mercantile pursuits. He was a delegate to every Republican New York State, county and district convention for thirty years. In 1873, he was elected as a Republican to the Forty-third Congress, serving until 1875. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his former business pursuits until his death at age 79.
