IRENE GULLETT

Former Hedrick resident Irene bowlin Gullett, 79, of Cedar Falls, died July 15, 1990, at Western Home in Cedar Falls.
She was born May 24, 1911, in Highland Center to Frank and Hillian Bender Doak. She married Evan J. bowlin on June 29, 1933; he died Dec. 21, 1972. She married Walden Gullett on Dec 9, 1976; he died in February 1983.
She was a 1927 Hedrick High School graduate and had worked as a correspondent for the Ottumwa Courier and Oskaloosa Herald for many years. She was a member of Hedrick United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliar4y. She moved from Hedrick in 1985.
She is survived by a son Lyle Bowlin on Cedar Falls; 2 daughters, Marcia Thudium of Wichita, Kansas, Sonya Paxon of Cedar Rapids; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; a brother Roger Doak of Hedrick; and 4 sisters, Geneva Daugherty and Regina Capps of Hedrick, Virginia Ramey and Frances Lint of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Pamela Sue, twin of Lyle; and 2 brothers, Dallas and Don Doak.
The service will be 1pm Tuesday at Hedrick United Methodist Church. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery, near Highland Center.
