~ Terrence Davenport Obituary ~

He was born Nov. 11, 1935, in Rose Valley.

Digger was one of a kind.

He was a commercial fisherman in Alaska for more than 30 years and a hunting guide before anyone knew what they were. He loved every minute of his life to the fullest. A lot of the time forgetting what day it was.

Digger was one of the first fishermen to fish for crab in Bristol Bay. He completed his Coast Guard course to become licensed for the 100 ton master license in March of 1999.

He was a free spirit and loved the wind in his hair and sea spray on his face. The only thing he loved more was his wife of 25 years, Charlotte and his puppy, Sengkye at home.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Walter and Opal Davenport; his younger brother, Jimmie; and an older sister, Laura.

Digger leaves behind five children, Theresa Benoit of Clackamas, Ore., Jerry Davenport of Longview, Jeanie Robertson of Stockton, Calif., Terry Jacobson of Prescott, Ariz., and Bonnie Jacobson in New Hampshire; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

At Digger's request, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice in your community in Digger's name.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Zafer Yildirin and a gracious thank you to Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.

Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
