Our subject commenced on the canal at Nineveh in 1847, and pursued boating as an avocation for six years. In 1848, he ran a section boat called the "Camden." He commenced with the Pa. R.R. in 1850, being engaged in getting out ties, and in September of the following year, began to work as a repair hand. In 1856, he became associated with the Indiana Branch R.R., and since May 24th of that year, has been the foreman of the Homer section.
He was married first in 1858 to Susan Fry, d., a daughter of Jacob and Susan Fry nee Junkins, the latter being a daughter of Hugh Junkins, one of the pioneers of Armagh, and second to Miss Mary A.
