'Avis M. Sweeny, 86, died on Thursday of last week at the Bon Secour Hospital in Grosse Point. She was born November 5, 1890, in Morenci, the daughter of the Observer publisher, A.E. Allen and Elida A. Allen. Mrs. Sweeny was the granddaughter of the Observer founder, E.D. Allen. On September 7, 1914, she was married to Donald N. Sweeny. He preceded her in death October 2, 1972. She is survived by two children, Dr. D.N. Sweeny and Allen N. Sweeny and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Detroit at the Verheyden Funeral Home.'
