Chariton Newspaper Obituary April 1984:
Edward Lewis Farrell, son of Fred and Esther Farrell, was born in Chariton, Iowa on February 7, 1930, and died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa on April 4, 1984 following a massive coronary.
He was united in marriage to Joan Duffield on March 17, 1951 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton, Iowa.
To this union two daughters were born, Patty Carlson of Ft. Dodge and Janice Baughman of Chariton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and lived his religion daily by always doing for others. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandpa, and brother; and a true friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Brian Carlson; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Terry Baughman; young grandson, Zachary Blake Baughman; ten brothers and sisters: Johnetta Farrell of Williamson; Jerry Farrell of Chariton' Mary Colbert Patterson of Williamson; Richard Farrell of Tinley Park, Illinois; Robert of West Des Moines; Dell Agan of Modesto, California; Don Farrell of Vail, Iowa; Carl Farrell of Pella, Iowa; Joe Farrell of Chariton; and Charlie Farrell of Williamson; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rosary was at the Fielding Funeral Home on Friday April 6th and led by Father Daleke. Funeral mass was at 10:30 a.m. on April 7, 1984, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chariton with Rev. Father Frank Chiodo, Rev. Father Don Daleke, Rev. Father James Chiaro, Rev. Father Alfonso E. Erestain, and Brother Emmanuel Toch Gil officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials have been established at the Sacret Heart Catholic Church and the Chariton Public Library.
