Carlos Rocha, loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and devoted husband passed away June 26, 2009 at the age of 61. He was born October 12, 1947 in Ysleta, TX. He graduated from Ysleta High School in 1967. In 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After completing his active naval service, he returned to El Paso, TX where he was united in marriage to Celia Garcia. In 1993, Carlos and Celia moved to Carlsbad, NM where he worked for Walmart as a department manager. Carlos had the greatest love and respect for his family and enjoyed the rewards of many longtime acquaintances and friendships. He loved music and dancing. He enjoyed billiards and bowling. Carlos enjoyed grilling and was often the life of the party. He had the greatest love for his dog Peanut. He never went anywhere without him. Aside from his family, his greatest love was the Dallas Cowboys. Carlos was an inspiration to his family with his great courage and strength, and his smile and joyous laughter will be deeply missed. Carlos is survived by his wife, Celia of 35 years, his son Carlos Rocha Jr. of Tucson, AZ, two daughters, Monica McDonald and husband Richard of Las Cruces, NM; Venessa Candelaria and husband Danny of Sierra Vista, AZ; three grandchildren Ryan McDonald, Hailey McDonald and Noah Candelaria. Also, survived by his brother Luis Rocha, his wife, Laura; his sisters Jesusita Nunez and Christina Fernandez, her husband Bert, all of El Paso, TX. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Carlos is preceded in death by his father and mother, Aurelio and Bersabe Rocha. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Hillcrest Funeral Home on Carolina. A rosary prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Interment will be at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jose Mares, Jesus Maturin, Joseph Nunez, Michael Rocha, Gilbert Rocha, and Bert Fernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Humberto Maturin, Richard McDonald, Danny Candelaria, Raul Zamarripa, and Sam Vasquez. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home & Crematory. 1060 Carolina Dr. 598-3332.
