Alan C. Boxell, 56, of Huntington, died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at 8 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Boxell was a truck driver and a farm hand. He served in the United States Army, United States Marines and the National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post 85 in Huntington.

He was born Jan. 7, 1953, in Huntington to Rex and Janice Boyer Boxell.

Survivors include two sons, Matt Eugene (Angie) Boxell Grose, of Huntington, and Chad (Joni) Boxell, of El Paso, TX; four sisters, Carla (Rodney) Rice, Jadean (Tom) Barnes and Elaine (Eric) Sands, all of Huntington, and Rhonda (Melvin) Richardson, of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Arden (Tish) Boxell and Arlyn "Deke" (Linda) Boxell, both of Huntington; and three grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, July 3, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at Deal-Rice Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Rev. Bill Rapp of Zion United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday July 7, 2009, at 9 a.m. at Marion National Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are gifts to the family in care of Deal-Rice Funeral Home, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington, IN 46750.
