US Congressman. A prominent New York City financier and banker, he was elected to represent New York's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, filling the vacancy caused by the dath of Congressman James Humphrey. He served from December 4, 1866 to March 3, 1867, a period of three months. During that time he managed to get himself censured by the House for "unparlimentary language". He served as Mayor of Brooklyn from 1875 to 1876.
