Gwyn was born January 7, 1920 and was raised on a rural farm in Lake Creek, Texas. She maintained a residence in Freeport, TX for 64 years. She also lived for many years in Houston. Gwyn was married and widowed three times. She was married to Harmon J. McDougal for 24 years; Les Acker for 10 years; and A.T. (Bill) Lincecum for 12 years.
She is survived by her three children: H.A. (Andy) McDougal of Bentwater, Kay Ann Smith of Jones Creek, TX and James Michael McDougal of The Woodlands. She is also survived by her siblings: Sharlene Royalty of Lake Jackson, TX and Ben Anderson of Alvin, TX. Four grandchildren: Darren McDougal of Frisco, TX, Karen Larson of Plano, TX , Melissa Smith of Jones Creek, TX, and Melania Gutierrez of Jones Creek, TX and six great-grandchildren.
Early in her career, she worked as a secretary at Dow Chemical Company. Later, after earning her master's degree, she taught high school in the Aldine School District. Prior to retirement, Gwyn and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Freeport Industrial Services.
