Graduated from Yale University in 1856, stuided law and was admited to the bar and engaged in the practice of law when the Civil War broke out. He joined the Army in 1862 as a 2nd LT of A Company, 35th Massachusetts Volunteers. He was promoted to 1st LT Oct 14 1862 and Captain in 17 June 1862 have served as adjustant to his regiment. He moved to Florida after the war and practiced law. He served as State's Attorny for the 6th Judicial District of Florida.
Married Carolyn 'Carrie' F Rust in Boston on 10 Nov 1863
There is another marker at Huguoenot Cemetery in St Augustine FL John B Stickney. At the family's request his remains were transferred to Rock Creek Cemetery.
