Alfred Barns Seelye is the son of John Mason and Ellen Seely Seelye. He had four siblings, Franklin D., Albert, Alvin W., Emma, and Jennie. Alfred and Jennie R. Taylor married 10 Aug 1893. Dr. A.B. Seelye made his fortune in patent medicine with the A.B. Seelye Medical Company. The Georgian style Seelye Mansion was built in 1905 and is like a time capsule. Most of its furnishings were purchased at the 1904 St Louis World's Fair. Dr. Seelye's daughters were Helen and Marion and were little girls when the house was built. They never married and lived in the home into their 90's.
