LaVerne was born July 27, 1915 in the Town of Holland. She was a daughter of the late Lester and Aletha (Lau) TenPas.
On December 31, 1938 she was united in marriage to Elwood Marks at Hope Reformed Church parsonage in Sheboygan. The couple was married for 43 years before Elwood preceded her in death on March 28, 1982.
She was the church organist at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church for many years. She learned to play the piano when she was young and then taught herself to play the organ.
LaVerne was a member of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church.
She loved to garden, sew, do plastic canvas crafts and crochet. She made many gifts for her family and friends. One of her greatest joys was to bake buckets of cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always here to offer a helping hand to anyone that need it. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Ken (Pam) Marks and Ron (Dianne) Marks; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Bernice TenPas of Sheboygan, Esther Hasseler of Marshfield and Emily Marks of Sun City, AZ.
In addition, she was preceded in death by a sister, ClaraBell Stiles and a brother, Ivan TenPas.
Funeral services will be held June 27, 2009, at Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. John A. Schmidt, Pastor of Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
