J. Herman Chastain, 90, of Keene passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 in Keene.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday in V.O. Schneider Chapel. Interment: Keene Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Randy, Jim and Cecil Chastain, David Spells, Rob Foster, Gary Heinrich, and Ethan Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil May, L.A. Hunter and Kevin Johnson.
He was born June 14, 1919, in Jefferson to Joseph and Katherine Lynch Chastain. He married Marianna Gantz, who preceded him in death. He married Dolly Black in 1998 in Keene. Mr. Chastain was a food salesman for Loma Linda Food Co. for 28 years in Riverside, Calif. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Keene. Mr. Chastain was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a medic in World War II.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Aubra and Cecil Chastain; and sisters, Bessie and Maurice.
Survivors: His wife, Dolly Black Chastain of Keene; son, Dwain Chastain of Fort Worth; stepson, David Spells and wife, Kim, of Sachse; stepdaughter, Lisa Spells Foster of Keene; grandchildren, Randell Chastain, Debra Johnson and Jim Chastain; and stepgrandchildren, Meagan, Ethan and Chelsea Foster.
