She was the daughter of Joe and Mable Green.

She married John Jay "Johnnie" Phillips, IV, August 6, 1928, Glasscock Co., Texas.

MRS. PHILLIPS KILLED AS CAR OVERTURNS

Mrs. Josephine Green Phillips, wife of John J. Phillips, Jr., was killed, probably instantly, when her car overturned five miles southwest of Garden City on the pump station road Thursday afternoon, October 3, 1946.

Mrs. Phillips had left a missionary society meeting at the Garden City Baptist church at about 3:30 p. m. Although it was impossible to tell from the wreckage of the car, it was surmised she had either started on a visit or was returning from having taken someone
home.

Apparently, the machine struck a soft shoulder on the graveled road. Tommy Hayes, Big Lake, discovered her at about 5 p.m.

A life-long resident of Glasscock County, Mrs. Phillips was born March 23, 1913 and attended high school in Big Spring. Her mother was buried here 20 years ago.

Survivors include her husband, who operates a ranch 17 12 miles south of Big Spring; two sons, John J. Phillips, III, 10, and Don Charles Phillips, 5; her father, J.
C., Green, Milford; a sister, Mrs. Helen Arnold, Briggs, and a brother, Luther Green, Marfa.

Among survivors on her husband's side, and who will attend services Saturday afternoon at Garden City, are Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Phillips, Sr., Sterling City route, parents- in-law; Mrs. A. W. Tyree, Ballinger, Mrs. V. L. Cunmngliam and Mrs. T. C. Rankin, Odessa, Mrs. J. D. Yancey, Texas City, O. R. Phillips, Midland, H. O. Phillips, Brownfield. and F. F. Phillips, Big Spring.

The body will lie in state here at Eberley Chapel until 1 p. m. Saturday when' it will be taken to Garden City for services in the Baptist church, of which she was a long timee member. Rev. L. D. Gentry, Garden City, and Rev. Elton Heinze, Fort Worth, will officiate. Burial will be in the .Garden City cemetery.

Pallbearers. will be Ronnell McDaniel, Cecil Wilkerson, John H. Cox, Frank Rainsell, Jewell White, J. W. Overton, W. D. Lipscomb, W. K, Scudday, and E. C. McArthur.
