Ermance Marie was born to the union of Lodias Rouly and Elia Theall Rouly. Born in the Lozes Community. Her siblings were Eloise, Estelle, Alex, Elmo and Whitney.

Ermance married Henry Chastant, having one daughter, Olga Cecile, who later married Leonard John Breaux on November 24, 1941.

Ermance, along with her husband Henry was the co-owner of Chastant & Breaux General Merchandise Store, along with her son-in-law, Leonard John Breaux. She was owner of a sugar cane farm and cattle ranch, located on what remains of Solitude Plantation in Lozes Community. Peoples Cotton Gin was located here until 1960.

Her only grandson, Henry Lynn Breaux, was appointed Ambassador to France, representing the National Society, Sons Of The American Revolution (NSSAR) between 2000-2002. www.sar.org.
