ELKHART - Jack Lee Pickrell, 66, of Elkhart, passed away after a battle with cancer at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, in Hospice House of Elkhart. Jack was born on August 10, 1942, in Ottumwa, IA, to the late Orville and Freda (Ancell) Pickrell.

On February 11, 1967, in Quincy, IL, he married Janice Kellum. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice; six children, Cindy (Mark) Prater of South Bend, Daniel Ballinger of South Bend, Kevin Ballinger of South Bend, Bruce (April) Ballinger of South Bend, Robert (Elizabeth) Pickrell of Jacksonville, FL, and Julie (Charles) Sellenberg of South Bend; six grandchildren, Heath, Jason, Michael, Matthew, Christopher and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Alexandra and Myra. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Spacek of Scottsdale, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Beverly Jean Hartley and Genevieve Butler.

Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was honorably discharged after serving for six years in 1968. He worked at Allied Products and EWI for 31 years and Faurecia for 10 years. He was a member of Timberland Bible Church.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - noon Tuesday, June 30th, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday in the funeral home, with Rev. John Railton officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
