John W. "Woody" Beery, 75, 521 S. 13th St. , who retired from the Decatur General Electric Co. in 1971 after 41 years of service, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Lutheran Hospital , Fort Wayne .
He was a member of First United Methodist Church , Moose Lodge, and GE Quarter Century Club.
Born in Decatur on April 6, 1911, he was the son of Edwin and Leota Gilpin-Beery, and was married Oct. 17, 1936, to Pauline Marshall. Survivors include the wife; the mother, of Fort Wayne ; two children, Mrs. William F. (Bonnie) Schnepf, Jr., Decatur, and Mike Beery, Bloomfield , Ky. ; and three grandchildren. One sister and one brother are deceased.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Winteregg-Linn & Haggard Funeral Home, Rev. Bill Moon officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery . Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to the First United Methodist Church .
