MAQUON - James A. Bennett, of Maquon, died at 8:55 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg, where he had been a patient since Oct. 9, when he was involved in a car accident north of Maquon.

An autopsy performed Saturday indicated that death had been due to natural causes, according to Dr. Richard Bick, deputy Knox County Coroner.

Mr. Bennett was born at Brimfield Sept. 26, 1876 and married Vera Melton at Peoria Nov. 26, 1913. She died Oct 8, 1955. Formerly employed at the Brimfield Lumber Co. for 23 years, he did railroad work later and then farmed until 1939 when he retired and moved to Maquon.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Hilda Bennett of Chicago; one stepson, Charles Melton of Maquon and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Root-Davis Funeral Home in Maquon, with the Rev. Donald Carpenter, of the Maquon Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maquon Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
