Chester Stratton
Grygla, Minn --- Chester J. Stratton, 70, Grygla, died Tuesday, July 3, 1990, in his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla. Visition will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today, in Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, and an hour before services in the church. Burial will be at the St. Olaf Cemetery, near Grygla. Members of the Thief River Falls VFW will conduct military honors.
Chester J. Stratton was born Feb. 2, 1920 in Crary, North Dakota, the son of Jesse and Nellie Stratton. At the age of 3, he moved with his family to Grygla area, where he grew up and attended school. He married Ovedia Anderson August 30, 1945, and the couple lived in the Grygla area, where he was a heavy equipment operator for Holthusen Construction Company. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Survivors include his wife; son Chester Jr., Grygla; daughters Pauline (Mrs. Wallace) Sistad, Grygla, Vivian (Mrs. Floyd) Sunsdahl, Biwabik, Minnesota, and Jane (Mrs. Leo) Hoy, Gatzke, MInnesota; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brohers, Eddie, Winona, Minnesota, Virgil, Bemidji, Joseph, Lynwood, Washingon, Donald, New Brighton, Minnesota, Raymond, Buffalo, Minnesota, and Gilbert, Port Richey, Florida; sisters, Vivian Kiel, Lynwood, Lillian (Mrs. Walter) Blilie, Rush City, Minnesota, Hazel Samson St. Paul, Violet (Mrs. Glenn) Norberg, Minneapolis, and Agnes (Mrs. Arnie) Kujanson, Grygla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
