Mrs. Andrews Dead At Rockingham Home
Mrs. H. W. Andrews passed away at her home in Rockingham on last Monday morning at an early hour. She leaves six children the youngest of which is only a few days old. The interment occurred in the Rockingham Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. Altman conducting the burial service in the presence of a large crowd. Deceased was the wife of Hebrew W. Andrews, a well known and prosperous merchant of Alma, and the eldest daughter of J. L. Johnson, Sr., and a sister of our fellowtownsman, Dr. M. C. Johnson. Mrs. Andrews had been a consistent member of the church for a number of years and was one of the most beloved women in that section of the county. Her sad and untimely death will be moaned by a large circle of admiring friends.
Helpful hints:
Ella's husband's name was Heber W. Andrews, not Hebrew.
J. L. Johnson was James Lester "Keet" (nickname) Johnson.
(He was my great grandfather and is also buried at
Johnson Rockingham Cemetery.) Ella's mother was Ellen Sullivant Johnson, my great grandmother and is buried in Johnson Rockingham Cemetery.
M. C. Johnson was Malcolm Carroll Johnson. He was a
dentist. He is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Alma, Bacon Co., GA. (He was my grandfather.) My grandmother was Johnnie Luola (Johnson) Johnson.
Heber married Nellie J. Smith after the death of Ella. Both are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
