Ren Taylor

    CEDAR CITY — Lorenzo E. (Ren) Taylor, 86, passed away Aug. 20, 1999 in Cedar City. Ren was born April 25, 1913, in Delta to Loren Independence and Elida Jane Bunker Holt Taylor. He married his sweetheart, Cleo N. Bulloch, on April 5, 1937 in Parowan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple on Feb. 21, 1958.

    Ren came to Cedar City to attend Branch Agriculture College, and while there was very active in athletics. He excelled in football, baseball, basketball, and track. In 1984 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame at SUU. He was a charter member of the Cedar City Lions Club and served one term as president. He started in the dairy business in 1936 as a cleanup man and then delivery, and he retired as plant manager in 1978 after over 40 years of service.

    Ren loved the outdoors and his ranch on Cedar Mountain, where he spent all his free time. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

    Surviving family members include his wife: Cleo of Cedar City; one daughter: Vicki (Terry) Rosenberg of Santa Clara; and one son: Bruce of Cedar City; friend: Kathy Allen of Parowan; daughter-in-law: Sandra Taylor of Cedar City; four grandchildren: Rick (Terri) Rosenberg, Matt (Nicole) Rosenberg, Trina (Dallas) Lowry, and Tina (Matt) Shotwell; nine great-grandchildren: Travis, Taylor, Dustin, Desirae, Rachel, Geoffrey, K'Loni, Toni Jo, and Parker; sister, Vilate Griener of St. George. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Burt, Riley, Grant, Lloyd, and Floyd.

    Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Cedar City 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 256 S. 900 West, Cedar City.

    Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:30-8:30 at the Southern Utah Mortuary and Monday morning from 9-10:30 at Southern Utah Mortuary.

    Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
