BENTON, LA-Services for Mamie Lou Bryan Gilcrease, 87, will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel with Rev. Tommy Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA.
Mrs. Gilcrease was born April 2, 1922 in Richland Parish, LA to John and Novie Tippet Bryan and died May 3, 2009 in Shreveport, LA. During her early years, she grew up along the Mississippi Delta picking cotton and later moved to Oregon during WWII and worked as a welder building battleships. She was a member of Cypress Baptist Church.
Her husband, Benton Gilcrease and two sons, Bennon Ray and Duane Gilcrease preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gilcrease is survived by sons, Stanley Gilcrease and Jimmy Gilcrease both of Shreveport, LA, Eddie Joe Gilcrease of Salt Lake City, UT, James Roy Gilcrease and Johnny Ray Gilcrease both of Bossier City, LA, and Benton Lloyd Gilcrease of Greenwood, LA, her only daughter, Nova Loree Willis and husband Dr. Brian Willis of Benton, LA, two sisters, 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mrs. Gilcrease as pallbearers will be Kevin Singletary, Mark Wade, Chris Hartline and David Emfinger.
The family requests that memorials be made to Grace Home, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, LA 71101.
