John R. Stefanik, age 76, of Shalimar passed away quietly at his home with his family by his side on April 28, 2009. John was a native of Johnstown, PA and was born on February 3, 1933 to John and Elizabeth Stefanik.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Laura Stefanik of Shalimar; his sons, John R. Stefanik, Jr. and wife Barbara of Destin, David Joseph Stefanik and wife Stephanie of Shalimar; his daughter, Mary Louise Sperry of Destin; son, Joseph Stefanik of Fort Walton Beach. Sisters; Elizabeth Jane (Betty) Kelson of McLean, VA, and special friend Dr. Robert Wicks of Ravenna, OH; Joan Marie Williams and husband Nathan Carlyle Williams, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren and 3 great grand children.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Marie Michaud and Helen Marie (Blaga) Stefanik and his brother, William John Stefanik.

John was retired from the United States Air Force where he was a Senior Master Sargeant and served his country proudly for 27 years. After retirement he worked for Chromalloy of Fort Walton Beach for 10 years as a Quality Assurance Supervisor. John enjoyed wood-working, fishing and loved spending time with his family. The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice and especially Charlotte, Jeanette, and a very special friend Grace.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Emerald Coast Hospice of Fort Walton Beach in John's name. In keeping with John's wishes there will be no visitation. A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
