Mr. Ashbaugh, 77, died Sunday, May 24, 1987, at Logan County Hospital.
He was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Aurora, Neb., the son of Fred and Eva Klimper Ashbaugh, attended school in Hamilton County, Neb., moved with his family to the Iliff-Padroni area in 1926 and served in the U.S. Army in 1932 and 1933, then married Geraldine Sprague, Oct. 25, 1934.
During the depression years in the late 1930s, Mr. Ashbaugh managed the Padroni Lumber Yard. Alter seiling the lumber yard, he farmed and raised livestock until he semi retired in 1963. A stroke in 1966 fore d his retirement as a ditch rider.
Mr. Ashbaugh served on the Padroni Board of Education, was a member of the Sterling B.P.O.Elks Lodge No. 1336, active in the Soil Conservation Service and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by a daughter,Beverly Walton of Oceanside, Calif.; two sons, John Ashbaugh of Craig and Jim Ashbaugh, of Panoka, Alberta, Canada; a sister, Marie Moyer of Kimball, Neb.; a brother, Russell Ashbaugh of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
