Freeman, Calvin Coolidge

Mr. Calvin Coolidge Freeman of Slocomb died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at his residence. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Earl Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009. Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Freeman was born Dec. 16, 1920, in Geneva County, the son of the late Dewitt Clinton Freeman and Inez Smith Freeman. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was a WWII Veteran and retired from Hedstrom Union after 22 years. He never met a stranger. He was a very loving father and grandfather. He fought a hard battle with cancer for about a year but continued to have a smile on his face and made everyone else smile.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earl Appling Freeman; sister, Edith Tate; and two brothers, Clayton Freeman and D.C. Freeman.
Survivors include his daughter, Rhonda Harris and her husband, Keith of Slocomb; sister, Annie Ruth Yeomans of Dothan; and a grandson, Jason Harris.
