He enjoyed sports, especially basketball, swimming and wrestling, and playing video games.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary E. Hill, and great-grandparents, Ida Hunter, Douglas Hunter and Alex Williams.

Friends may call Wednesday July 1, 2009 from 10 AM until the time of Homegoing Services at 12 NOON at Fairfield Baptist Church, 2002 E. 28 th Street, Lorain.

Pastor Dennis Johnson will officiate.

Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. Arrangements are being handled by Wyers Funeral Chapel of Sheffield Township.LORAIN — Two people were killed and three wounded in a two-day shooting spree in a high-crime area of the city.

City police have stepped up SWAT and canine patrols in the area of West 18th and West 22nd streets, near Long Avenue where the shootings took place. (See The Morning Journal's story.) The State Highway Patrol and surrounding police departments have also loaned police to keep the situation from boiling over.

"We're still trying to put it all together," said Sgt. Albert Rivera. "This is a high-crime area with high drug problems and it all went berserk."

Killed in the shootings were Christopher Hill, 16, and Marquis McCall, 18. Duane Richardson, 19, Craig Roberson, 17, and Aaron Rodriguez, 18, were injured by gunfire. All the victims are from Lorain.

Police said the victims have been "less than cooperative," but that the public has been very helpful generating information on the three shootings.

The rash of violence began at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Rivera said some teenagers were milling around the sidewalk at West 18th Street and Oakdale Avenue when a car drove past and sprayed the group with gunfire.

Rivera said they are unsure of the make and model of the car since the two shooting victims and their companions were not cooperative.

Richardson was shot in the left foot and Rodriguez was shot in the right leg. Both were taken to Community Health Partners Hospital, although a hospital spokeswoman was unable to locate records on Richardson. She said the victim's chart could be under a different name, or he could have refused treatment. Rodriguez was treated and released.

The violence continued the following day one block away.

At 5:55 p.m. Monday, Christopher Hill was a passenger in a car stopped at West 18th Street and Long Avenue. Rivera said several people walked up to the car and opened fire.

"Hill was shot in the head," Rivera said. "He was taken to Community Health Partners and then transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center and placed on life support. The family wanted to wait until his mother could come up from the South before they took him off life support on Tuesday."

Just a little more than four hours later, there was more violence.

Rivera said at 10:17 p.m. police heard gunfire as they were in the neighborhood conducting interviews.

"Our officers were there talking to people and they heard shots ring out," he said. "A group of six or seven males were walking along West 13th Street near Long Avenue, which is just a few blocks from the scene of the other shooting, when shots were fired at them from a moving car."

McCall was struck in the chest and killed during that gunfire. Another boy walking with him, Roberson, was shot in the leg and a bullet grazed his side. Both were taken to Community Health Partners. Roberson was transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, where he is in fair condition.

Rivera said police are investigating whether a Saturday night incident in the same area could be related. A car parked in the 800 block of West 22nd Street was damaged by gunfire from a passing car.

"At this point, we don't know if it's related or not, but we're looking into it," said Rivera.

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to call police at 440-204-2105.
