Myrtle Mae Davenport was the 10th of eleven children born to William Wilson and Flora Ellen (Loving) Dunaway. She married John Luther Davenport in her father's home in Drake's Creek, Arkansas, on Feb. 27, 1921. Myrtle and John had nine children, with all but one born in Madison County.

Myrtle's obituary was published in the Northwest Arkansas Times, Friday, November 2, 1962. She was buried at the Pinnacle Cemetery, just up the hill from the farm where she and John raised their family.
