Jane Elizabeth Allison

Jane Elizabeth Allison, 82, of Central Avenue died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at Community Care Center of Columbus.
She was a 1932 graduate of Columbus High School and a 1941 graduate of McMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. She volunteered with the American Red Cross in 1943 and served in the South Pacific during World War II.
She was a secretary for many years for the late Edwin Crouse, a local attorney, and later retired from the legal department at Cummins Engine Co.
She was a member of First Christian Church where she sang in the choir for more than 60 years and was a member of the bell choir. She also taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of Victory Sunday school class.
Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. Michael T. Hogg officiating. Calling will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Friday. Private burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the Alzheimer's Association.
Miss Allison was born in Nashville Oct. 4, 1915, the daughter of Thurle and Olive Campbell Allison, a pioneer Brown County family. Her grandfather, Alonzo Allison, was the first editor of the Brown County newspaper.
She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Carl C. and Paul R. Allison; and sisters, Dorothy East, Harriett O'Brien and Pauline Tolen.
