Edmund was the son of Jonathan Decherd, so it is confusing when you see he fills out his WW I draft card by adding Jr. to his name. He even signed as a Jr. I believe this was all done in honor or remembrance of his deceased uncle Edmund Anderson Decherd. To compound the problem he had a son named Edmund, but I have never found the middle name of Anderson applied to him and for this reason the son was never considered the (III) third.
