Leon Orton Anderson was born August 28, 1913, at Union, in Dawson County, the son of Olaf and Syble D Olson Anderson. He was the eldest of a family of six brothers and seven sisters. He joined his father in forming after completing eight grades in the Clear Creek elementary school. Mr Anderson met and married his wife, the former Dorothy Davies, when he went west in October 1937, to Fortine MT, to work in the Christmas tree harvest.

The then-Miss Davies was as also employed there, cooking for the harvest Crew. Following their marriage at Kalispell, the Anderson returned to Union by train and began farming and ranching on Mrs Jean Miller’s land - remaining there for 43 years. He was active as a 4-H leader and IFYE exchange host, a member and 30 years elder of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Glendive. Mr Anderson of Lindsay, succumbed to cancer Sunday, December 21, 1980, following an extended illness and three final months’ care in the McCone county hospital at Circle.

Surviving with Mrs Anderson and two daughters, Evelyn (Mrs Ken) Hunting of Jamestown ND, and Judy (Mrs Dean) Rolandson of Circle; a son, Lyle Alvin of Lindsay; five grandchildren; four sisters- Adella Dick of Lewistown, Verna Polston of Belgrade, Shirley Johnson of Bozeman and Ardis Collins of Sheridan WY; and four brothers - Allen of Richfield MN, Dale of Laramie WY, and Norman and Milford of Lindsay. Three sisters and a brother, preceded him in death.
