Alice was born March 26, 1916 in Center Creek, Wasatch County, the third of 10 children, of Lewis and Ora Sweat, Jr. She attended school in Center Creek and graduated from Wasatch High School in Heber City. She married Ray A. Deveraux on December 26, 1934. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Pleasant Grove for nearly 60 years. Ray passed away on November 27, 1993. They were the parents of five children: Arlyn (deceased); Gwen (Buzz) Smith, Lewiston; Lew (Majel) Deveraux, American Fork; Deana (Darwin) Bingham, Smithfield; Norman Don Deveraux, Lehi. She is survived by sisters, Lois (Ray) Anderson, Payson; Nelda Watkins, Heber; Alta (Joe) Meeks, Midway; Delvene (Vic) Bronson, Orem; JoAnn Veach, Santa Barbara, Calif.; brother, Dean Sweat, Center Creek; she was affectionately called "Grandma D" by her 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and the neighborhood children.

Alice had a love of the outdoors and in the past enjoyed hiking, camping, walking, and an occasional horse ride. She enjoyed being a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She always enjoyed poetry, and wrote many poems about family, love of her beliefs, her many friends and the beauties of life.

She was always an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all organizations. She was an appointed Temple Worker for 22 years, until she had a stroke in 1995. Her faith, family, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends were very important in her life.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, July 15, at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Monday, one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

Alice has requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Pleasant Grove Chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
