A son of James M. and Margaret Ranck Hixson, he was born Sept. 7, 1871, in Wanship Summit County. He had been a farmer and dairyman in East Mill Creek since 1891, recently retiring.
Mr. Hixson was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as a high priest in East Mill Creek ward. He had served on two LDS missions, one in England during World War I and another in Arkansas from 1892 to 1893.
He married Esther Eliza Neff Jan. 2, 1898 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She died Jan. 27, 1947.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter; Kenneth D. and Claire Smith Hixson, and Mrs. Vera Irvine, Salt lake City; two brothers, Mark and Karl Hixson, Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Hortin, Wanship; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
