SMITHSBURG – Mrs. Rachel E. Bayer, 76, Rt. 3 died Tuesday evening at her home.
She was born in Franklin County, Pa., daughter of Mahlon and Emma Benedict Garber.
Mrs. Bayer was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church-Antietam Congregation, near Waynesboro.
She is survived by sons, John B. Bayer, Chambersburg; Harlan J. Bayer, Waynesboro; Daniel M. Bayer, Salem, Va.; Samuel W. Bayer, Hagerstown; Paul D. Bayer, Smithsburg; Kenneth D. Bayer, Wirtz, Va.; daughters, Miss C. Elizabeth Bayer, Smithsburg; Mrs. Nora J. Boone, Rocky Mountain, Va.; Mrs. Frances J. Dewease, Leitersburg; Miss Julia M. Bayer, Miss Esther Bayer, both at home; sister Mrs. Clara Wingert, Harrisburg, Pa.; brothers, Welty Garber, New Lebanon, Ohio; Harry Garber, Fayetteville, Pa.; Emmert Garber, Mont Alto; Dennis Garber, Chambersburg, Pa.; thirty-five grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:15 Friday morning at the home of the deceased and at 10 a.m. at the Old German Baptist-Brethren Church with Elders Harry Benedict, James Hess and Minister Mark Benedict; burial will be in Prices Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday evening at the residence on the Greensburg Road.
