Mrs. Katie Horn Died Tuesday After Extended Illness

Mrs. Katie Horn, widely known longtime resident of Saratoga and the Platte Valley, passed away Tuesday of this week in Evanston, Wyoming, after an illness which had extended over a period of more than three months. She was 70 years of age.

The body was brought to Rawlins yesterday, in charge of the McKelvey Funeral Home, and will be brought to Saratoga for funeral services and burial, to take place, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. The services will be held at the Presbyterian Church, in charge of Rev. Robert J. Ware, and interment will be in the local cemetery.

Mrs. Horn had been a continuous resident of this Valley for more than 25 years. Previous to her marriage to W. J. Foreign in 1926, she had resided at the family home in Panora, IA, but made frequent visits to this valley to stay with her sister, Mrs. Cecil A. Ryan, and also spent intervals here when employed. It was during her sojourns here that she met Mr. Horn and they were later married.

Mr. and Mrs. Horn resided on Cow Creek, where Mr. Horn owned a ranch and was engaged in the dairy business. Mr. Horn passed away in October of 1943, and since his death Mrs. Horn had resided more or less steadily in Saratoga, where she owned a small home on the east side of the river. The Horn Ranch is now a part of the ranch owned and operated by Mr. Horn's daughter, H. V. Evans, and her husband.

Survivors include the sister, Mrs. Ryan; a brother, Hugh M. Teale of Panora; and two stepdaughters, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Billy (L. J.) Mareaux of Salt Lake City, and several nieces and nephews.
