E.I. (Deak) Carr, 74, of 366 1/2 West Grand avenue, died Sunday at Caravilla [Rock township].
He was a lifelong resident of the area. He was born Dec. 25, 1895, in Beloit, the son of Willis B. and Sophie Wilford Carr. He married Ruth Lufkin, Sept. 23, 1920, in Rockford. She died Oct. 10, 1963.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Board of directors of Grinnel Hall. He was a former Beloit city councilman. He was a member of Morning Star Lodge No. 10 F. & A.M., Beloit Chapter No. 9, R.A.M., Beloit Council No. 1, R. & S.M., Beloit commandary No. 6 K.T., constituary of Madison and Phoenix Chapter 215 O.E.S., the Fairbanks Morse Quarter Century club, and past president of the F.N. Credit Union.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Claire (Nancy) Field of Rockford; a sister, Mrs. Frank C. Ellsworth of California; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rosman-Uehing-Kinzer Cranston Road chapel. The Rev. Stanley Crossland will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7-9 at the chapel. A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m.
