Athens - Services for Morris S. Books, 73, Athens, formerly of Malakoff, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the First Methodist Church in Malakoff with the Rev. David Capehart officiating. Burial will be in Garden City Cemetery, Garden City, under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.

Mr. Books died Monday in a Corsicana hospital after a brief illness.

He was born July 19, 1910 [sic] in Faught City and was a resident of Anderson County for 12 years. He was a retired owner of restaurants and co-owner of a restaurant supply company. He was a member of First Methodist Church, Malakoff, and served with the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Malakoff Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Edith Books of Athens; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Nix of Athens and Mrs. Darla Bennett of Sulphur Springs; a sister, Mrs. Nancy Bryson of Beaumont; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to First United Methodist Church, Malakoff.
