R.G. Moss, Jr., 86, of Candler, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday June 21, 2009.
He was the husband of the late Pat R. Moss, and the son of the late R.G. Moss, Sr., and Nell W. Moss. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Frances A. Moss.
Mr. Moss retired from Southern Railway after 37 years of service, and did 20, 000 hours of volunteer services at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
Mr. Moss is survived by a daughter, Lynda Alexander and husband Charles, of Advance, NC; two sons, Steve Moss and wife Mary, of Asheville, and Ken Moss, of the Emma community; five grandchildren, Clay Alexander, of Greensboro, Chad Alexander, of Lexington, NC, Clint Alexander, of Gloucester, VA; Amanda Moss and Whitney Moss Adams, both of Candler; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Vaillancourt, of Swannanoa, and Dorothy Gallaher, of Columbus, OH; and two brothers, Harold Moss, and Allen Moss, both of Asheville.
A funeral service for Mr. Moss will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Greg Metcalf officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
