Elaine Annabelle Ponto was born March 18, 1927, to Ernest and Agnes Ponto in Bohnsack, ND. She graduated from Bohnsack High School.
On December 7, 1947, Elaine married Nils Buringrud. They lived and farmed near Argusville until moving to Gardner where they continued to farm. In 1993, they retired from farm life and moved to Fargo, where Elaine worked at St. Vincent De Paul and University Manor.
Elaine dearly loved her family and she and Nils attended many school and church events for their children and grandchildren. Elaine had a passion for gardening and loved flowers. She was active in Ladies Aid and Circle, was church treasurer and a Sunday school teacher for several years, and served as a delegate to the NW Minnesota Synod Conference. Elaine was also an active member of the Legion Auxiliary.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Nils; three daughters: Marilyn Hein, Canton, Texas, Wanda Hoffmann, Lisbon, ND, and Marcia Buringrud, Fargo, ND; three sons: Terry (Mary), Tower City, ND, Michael (Eileen), Gardner, ND, and Jon, West Fargo, ND; one sister: Mavis (Clyde) Ahlschwede, Fargo, ND, and three brothers: Truman Ponto, Talent, Oregon, Paul Ponto, Fargo, ND, Gene Ponto, Wahpeton, ND; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
