The daughter of German immigrants named Fred Gottlieb Kamp and Mary Caroline Buecker, Alvina was baptized "Alwine Anna Henriette Kamp" on 05 Apr 1891 at Salem Lutheran Church in Black Jack, St. Louis County, Missouri. Her sponsors were Anna Kamp and Henriette Dieckmann.

She married John Albers about 1908. He was a farmer in north St. Louis County, and they were the parents of 4 children. They later divorced.

Alvina lived with her daughter, Lin Meseke, and her family for a number of years before her death.

When she passed away, Alvina was 88 years, 6 months and 11 days old.

She was survived by 2 daughters, Lin Meseke and Viola Niehaus; 2 sons, Elmer Albers and John Albers; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation was held at John Styger and Son Chapel in north St. Louis County on 18 Sep 1979. Funeral services were conducted there at 1 p.m. the following afternoon.
