Funeral services are being held this afternoon at Hayti for John Thomas McGougan, aged Hayti resident, who was found dead in bed early Wednesday morning. Mr. McGougan had apparently been in good health, and his sudden death was a shock to members of the family and friends. An inquest held later in the day decided death was due to natural causes.
Mr. McGougan was born August 30, 1869, at Camden, S.C., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Angus McGougan, who came to this country from Scotland. For the past two years, Mr. McGougan has been a resident of the Hayti vicinity, living on a farm just outside the city limits.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia McGougan, and fourteen children. The services will be held at the home and will be conducted by the Rev. C.H. Frank. Interment will be in the Little Prairie Cemetery in this city.
