Born Deltha May Queen 21 Dec 1917 in Gloucester Township, Transylvania County, NC. Known as Delth to her family. According to Aunt Delth, her father wanted her named Hiawatha but her mother refused. Aunt Delth said she had her name legally changed to honor her fathers wishes.
Asheville – Hiawatha Queen Biddix, 81, formerly of Onteora Blvd passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009 at The Oaks of Brevard.
A native of Jackson County, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1950 and retired from Mountain City Cleaners in 1962.
Mrs. Biddix was a daughter of the late Wilburn Joseph and Martha Owen Queen and wife of Allen William Biddix who died in 1976.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Gertrude Queen of Brevard.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Dodson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
