Son of Ambrose J. and Emma L. Cox; born May 5, 1899, Compton, (?) Ky. Employee in planing mill, Rushville, Ind., when he enlisted in U.S. Regular Army April 15, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo.; assigned to Company K, 18th Infantry. Went overseas in June 1917; attached to the First Division. Killed in action July 18, 1918, battle of Soissons.
