SCOTT
Oma Cecil Scott, daughter of George Byron and Lula Zenobia Gordon, was born near Bethlehem in Wayne County, Ia. Aug. 9, 1895 and departed this life Feb. 18, 1977 in the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years, six months and nine days.
Most of her life was spent in Wayne County and on Dec. 23, 1914 she united in marriage with Ruey Lester Scott at Corydon, Ia. Three children came to bless this home.
Early in life she accepted Christ and united with the Christian Church in Bethlehem. She and her husband spent many years engaged in farming in Wayne County and then in 1956 retired to their home in Russell, Ia. Unexpectedly, a few months later, her husband passed away.
For three years she worked with the ill and elderly in the Baker Nursing Home in Chariton. She loved her home and many friends and spent many hours with flowers and needlework.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Erma, who died in infancy, one brother, Leon Clifford and a grandson, Robert.
She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Kathleen Ford, Russell, Ia.; two sons, Gordon Scott, Ankeny and Paul Scott, Benedict, Minn.; two daughters-in-law, Gladys Scott and Dorothy Scott and one son-in-law, Ivan Ford.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Mrs. Linda Adams, Mrs. Susan Travis, Sarah, Steven and Jim Scott, Mrs. Marilyn Palmer, Mrs. Judy Chapman and Gary Ford; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Glenn Moore, Promise City; one sister-in-law, Inez Scott, Corydon; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Woodman Chapel, with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell officiating. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
