Catherine's parents were Nancy Houston and Dr. James Henry. They were married June 6, 1814 in Pendelton, South Carolina. Family tradition says that jer parents were first cousins.

This Houston line is NOT related to General Sam Houston.

Catherine is buried in an "Un-Marked" Grave between her father Dr. James Henry and her brother James H. Henry. Her sister Elizabeth Frances Henry Kugle is buried next to her in the other unmarked grave. They both died around the same

time - after August 29, 1868 and before May 17, 1869. These dates are determined by the Probate Court records regarding her father's Will.

Catherine is the first wife of Joseph Hamilton "Ham" Almand. Catherine and Joseph Hamilton Almand were married February 1, 1838. No marriage license has been found. The marriage date is from "Ham's" Bible.

Their first child Nancy Matilda Almand was born December 1, 1838 in Conyers, Georgia. Sometime after Nancy's birth; Catherine returns to her father Dr. James Henry. She is suffering from what now would be called "Postpatum Depression" but we know that her condition was compounded by the Houston family's heritary history of mental problems which are now called "Bipolar disorder", also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. This involve clear changes in mood, energy, and activity levels. These moods range from periods of extremely "up," elated, and energized behavior (known as manic episodes) to very sad, "down," or hopeless periods (known as depressive episodes). Less severe manic periods are known as hypomanic episodes. Today she would have received treatmentn and lived a almost normal life.

Her husband Joseph Hamilton Almand decides to divorce her in 1839 after she has abandoned him and their home. The Divorce was published in the newspaer because she was not living in the state of Georgia. She does return and continues the marriage having three (3) more children.

After the birth of their fourth child January 4, 1846 in Gerogia....Catherine again returns to her father. She is listed on the 1850 Census for Attala County, Missippi living with him.

Sometime before 1850 Joseph Hamilton Allmand went to Mississippi and brought the four children back to Georgia. They are listed on the 1850 Census Newton County, Georgia.

Joseph Hamilton Almand files for divorce February 23, 1850 through the Superior Court. He states that she refuses to live with him. Notice regarding the divorce is published for three months. Catherine is not living in the state of Georgia but with her father Dr. James Henry in Mississippi. Ham is granted a divorce September 1851.

Catherine "Katty" lived with her father and her step mother, Elizabeth for the rest of her life in Attala County, Mississippi.

Futher "proof" of her mental state can be found in her father's Will. He instructs that certain property be rented out and the money use to "take care" of Catherine.

Catherine died after August 29, 1868 and before May 17, 1869. This time frame is determined by the Probate Court records regarding their father's Will.

Catherine is my paternal great, great grandmother.
