Joe Bob Bruce, 83, of Stamford, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the local hospital. Funeral services were at 2:00 PM Friday at the Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Joe was born June 12, 1923 in Haskell County to Guy and Lillie Bruce. He was raised in the Haskell-Jones County area. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, and a member of the Church of Christ Church. He had lived in Stamford since 1980 and was a retired truck driver for the Brazos Trucking Co. of Rotan. He is survived by his wife Rachel P Bruce of Stamford,; 2 sons, Joe Lynn Bruce of Fort Worth, Texas and Guy E. Bruce of Stamford; 1 grandson of their home, Guy Michael Bruce; and 1 brother in law of their home, Gilbert Pena; 1 sister, Audry Shanafield of Rio Grande, CA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
