Joan Kiehn, 67, Cashmere resident for the past 17 years and former longtime Dryden resident, died Saturday, April 26, in the Cashmere Convalescent Center.
She was born Joan Batt on Sept. 23, 1818, at Laurel, Mont., and moved to Odessa where she graduated from high school in 1837. She married William J. Kiehn on Jan.
29, 1940, at Ritzville. They operated a fruit ranch at Dryden for 29 years and moved to Cashmere in 1969 to operate an orchard.
Mrs. Kiehn was a member of Cashmere Grace Lutheran Church and was very active at the Chelan County .Historical Museum as a hostess.
Surviving are her son Robert, Chico, Calif.; two brothers, Clarence Batt, East Wenatchee and Reuben Batt, Spokane; a sister, Hellen Schell, Ritzville; and two grandchildren, Holly and Darren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Braun Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gary Rothenberger officiating. Earl Barnes was organist. Burial took place in the Cashmere Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Herb Kiehn, Bill Kiehn, Dick Alderman, Ray Greenwalt, Dave Ragsdale and Corky Kiehn. Honorary bearers were Art Kiehn, Ray Miller, Eben Davis, Crowl Albin and Roland Schafer.
Memorials are suggested to the Chelan County Historical Museum or Cashmere Grace Lutheran Church.
