son of Naomi Ryder and Ebenezer Hickok
married Mary Green

In their 1900 US Census, he and wife Mary resided in Jefferson Twp. Its population count would be combined with Rome Twp. for some reports, so they were sometimes mis-reported as living in that other township.

The interviewer visited them and neighbors, June 22 and June 23, 1900. Edward and Mary both gave their years of marriage as 23. That means they married sometime between June 22, 1872, and June 23,1873, with the usual undertaker practice of rounding-up giving 1873 as their calculated marriage year. Mary reported that she had had two children, but only 1 was still living.

KIN NEARBY? Neighbors listed on the same page included varied Baylors and Greens, plus New-York born Kate Hickok, a widow living with her married daughter "Emley". Kate reported having ontly the one child. Kategaver herparents asVermont-born or raised. ("Emley" reported her deceased father as born in England. England was not typical of the Ohio Hickocks' parents, so perhaps a Hickok was Kate's second husband. Emley could thus have been of a first marriage and thus need not have Hickock/Hickok as her maiden name, )
